smash the ball to the other(opposite) edge from the opponent?

When you play ping pong, if you want smash the ball to the other(opposite) edge from the opponent, I mean if he is on the left side, you smash ball to the right side, and if he is on the right side, ball to the left side,
    Is this expression correct?
You smash the ball to the other(opposite) edge from the opponent

Re: smash the ball to the other(opposite) edge from the opponent?

    I don't like it.
"You smash the ball into the court opposite to where your opponent is."
"You smash the ball onto the edge opposite your opponent." ("opposite where your opponent is playing"). This is obviously harder!
"You smash the ball to the side opposite where your opponent is standing."
