I don't quite follow what "conveniences" mean in this context below.
Does that mean "two canteens containing cookware for breakfast and dinner for two people"? (if they are cookware, canteens can contain them?)

Nowadays a canteen is a strong metal or plastic container for carrying a personal supply of water, but the Concise Oxford Dictionary tells me it once could mean an "outfit of cooking and table vessels and utensils." So I think your understanding is correct.
