    What’s his story?

    What’s his story?

Monica: Julia, here are our drinks.
    Julia: Yes, great!
Monica: Listen, I wanted to talk to you.
    Julia: Go ahead!
Monica: Do you remember the party we went to last month?
    Julia: Sure, I do.
Monica: We had a great time and you introduced me to a good-looking guy.
    Julia: You mean Angelos?
Monica: Yeah, that seems to be his name.
Tell me about him. What’s his story? Do you have his telephone number?
Julia: I don’t have his telephone number, but I know where he works.
His place of work was a small, but well-known coffee house in town. He was a barista, and he was the only barista in town who could make gorgeous designs on coffee.
At a weekend she decided to visit the coffee house, but couldn’t talk to Angelo – he was too busy.
Monica got upset, but didn’t give up. She drank her coffee and decided to come again on a week day.
Having come to the coffee house again, she found out that Angelos had left that job, and there was a vacancy now.
As Monica was looking for a job, she decided to give it a try.
She got the job and every day she tried to create coffee designs the way Angelos did.
A lot of time had passed, and she had given up on the idea of meeting Angelos.
But one day Angelos dropped in. Monica was very surprised and decided to impress him with coffee foamart of her own.
She made a coffee with the same design he did.
Angelos got interested and wanted to talk to the barista.
When he took a close look, he remembered he had seen the girl somewhere.
Then it clicked – it was that girl he had met at the party.
He knew those designs meant something.
That was the beginning of their love story.

    Welcome to the forum, Ira.

I think you want us to correct your text, so I have moved to Editing & Writing Topics.

    Re: What’s his story?

Your title and first line suggest that you are querying only the meaning of "What's his story?" Is that correct?
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: What’s his story?

If it is correct, the person is asking for some information about Angelos- who he is, what he does, etc.

    Re: What’s his story?

I thought we didn't need all that text if that's all the OP wanted to know.

    Re: What’s his story?

In fairness, we usually complain about a lack of context. It doesn't seem sporting to complain about too much!
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

    Ira -

    Story
here means background or history or situation.

"What's his story" is just another way of saying "Tell me about him."

It's like saying "Who is he?" or "What do you know about him?"

She probably wants to know whether he has a girlfriend, what his interests are, how educated he is, what his reputation is, and whether he's good to the people around him - especially women.
I'm not a teacher. I speak American English. I've tutored writing at the University of Southern Maine and have done a good deal of copy editing and writing, occasionally for publication.

    Re: What’s his story?

That's OK but make sure in future that you include an actual question in your post.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
