    Smile So he should know

Hello. Would you please explain the underlined sentence in the context below?
I don't understand what he should know. Thank you.

----from Le Road Trip by Vivian Swift
As travelers, J. and I are dawdlers, and not particularly dedicated to sight-seeing or shopping. But we are eager to carpe diem this leg of the road trip.
    So we rent a car.

Erasmus used to say: HASTEN SLOWLY.
    That's our plan exactly.

See as much of life as possible, but take time to notice it too.

Desiderius Erasmus of Rotterdam was the treatest wandering philosopher of the Renaissance.
His work became part of the founding tenets of the Age of Enlightenment.
    So he should know.

    Re: So he should know

It means "Based on his experiences as the greatest wandering philosopher of the Renaissance, he can confidently say (and we would do well to believe him) that it is important to see as much of life as possible but take time time to notice it too."

We can use "XXX should know" to indicate that the person knows it from experience.

Temperatures fell well below zero last night. I should know - I was outside all night!
Sarah says Milton Keynes is one of the most depressing places in the UK, and she should know - she lived there for 15 years.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
