What kind of medicine did the doctor give (to) your father? - Is "to" necessary?

    a. What kind of medicine did the doctor give your father?
    b. What kind of medicine did the doctor give to your father?
Is the word "to" necessary before "your father"? I think either is correct. Am I right?

    c. Do you know what kind of medicine the doctor gave your father?
    d. Do you know what kind of medicine the doctor gave to your father?
Is the word "to" necessary before "your father"? I think either is correct. Am I right?

    Thanks!

'To' is not necessary in either sentence.
