    Smile the Magnificent Vivo

Hello. Would you please explain the underlined sentence?
Does the underlined sentence mean "That they[Old people] had waited so long to get themselves to France was the proof of their lack of imagination"?
Also, I don't know what "the Magnificent Vivo" means.
    Thank you.

----From Le Road Trip by Vivian Swift
Back then, I was the largest thing in the landscape.
It was my duty to go everywhere, see everything in oder to verify its reality.
For without my witness, the world could not possibly exist in any real way.
Old people, they lived in the past, a place about which I knew nothing, which of course rendered it irrelevant.
In travel, life, etc, it was too late for anyone over the age of 40.
Wasn't it proof positive of their incriminating lack of imagination that they'd waited so long in to get their sorry selves to France?
When I, the Magnificent Vivo, was already here and half their age?
I was 20, and the world's most egotistical traveler.

    1 Yes
2 It sounds like the name of a magician to me, so I guess that the writer is trying to make their younger self sound big-headed about being alive and in France, so young and imaginative.

Vivo is Vivian. She's writing in the first person. Keep in mind that Le Road Trip is humor.
I'm not a teacher. I speak American English. I've tutored writing at the University of Southern Maine and have done a good deal of copy editing and writing, occasionally for publication.
