    make a recourse action against

    Hello everybody!

The owner is obliged to consult repairs with underwriters, who will also reserve their right to make a recourse action against the reponsible party.

The text is related to the fire that broke out on board a ship the other day.

What does "make a recourse action against" mean? I have no idea.

    Thank you.
