question about using "when" and "will"

    Hi there,

I found the tutorial book stated that "We do not use will in the when-part of the sentence", is it correct?

and I also found other example using both when and will together, e.g, "When will you get your exam results?".

    Thanks for advise please.

Re: question about using "when" and "will"

We do not normally use 'will' in adverbial clauses of time.

I will leave when he comes.

It's fine in direct and indirect questions.

I don't know when he will come.
    When will he come?

Re: question about using "when" and "will"

It's a dependent clause that functions like an adverb, modifying a verb, adjective or adverb in the main clause. In I will leave when he comes, the dependent clause tells us the time of his leaving.

It's quite abstract for me but thanks for your reply.
