    on my friend's recommendation.

Actually I didn't like travel, because it costs a lot of money.* But when I finished my military service, I got a chance to leave for Canada and USA on my friend's recommendation.

    1. Can you just say "I finished military service" without "my"?
    2. Is "on my friend's recommendation." proper or what about "on my friend's suggestion"?

    Re: on my friend's recommendation.

    1. It's possible, but I think it's better if you include my.
    2. Recommendation is correct. If you prefer suggestion, the preposition has to be at.

You have to write the USA.
