    The hunting season

Would you please correct the mistakes in the following sentences?

The hunting season had started, and the village was taken up by the army of hunters. They arrived in the large 4X4s and got out of them dressed in olive-green and camouflage uniforms carrying their expensive, well-oiled shotguns and rifles. They opened the backs of the cars and let the dogs out. They barked and yapped, eager to run into the woods.

    Re: The hunting season

The word I am going to use virtually pushes itself into thr sentence.

    First sentence. Say:

Hunting season had started, and the village was invaded by an army of hunters.

    Re: The hunting season

"They barked and yapped" seems to be saying it's the hunters doing the harking and yapping.
