    Definite article:

    Hello teachers,

    Greetings!

    In the following sentence, is the usage of definite article correct? I think so, but I am not hundred percent sure! Could you explain a bit? I would really appreciate that.

    My choice of the 1799–1802 time frame is dictated by two major events in Coleridge’s life, described in Chapter 2: the disintegration of his marriage upon the return from Germany and his contract with the Morning Post.

    It's OK. I'd prefer to use 'his' or 'their' as appropriate.

    Or you could use something like on returning, which doesn't require anything.
