    blame the movies and TV programs

    Today, in modern societies, youth drug abuse is increasing. This problem is getting worse all over the world. This essay will have a close look at the cause of this problem, analyze the effects and suggest the solutions.
    The reasons for this behavior are unclear, but some parents blame the movies and TV programs on drug abuse by saying they have influenced it.

    ============================

    Is there a simpler way to say it? This doesn't include "saying they have influenced it".1. some parents blame the movies and TV programs on drug abuse

    Re: blame the movies and TV programs

    I think remarkably few movies or TV programs have been caused by drug abuse. I can't honestly think of a single one, except for Easy Rider, of course.

    Re: blame the movies and TV programs

    That's a very ambitious essay if you are going to base your solutions on "what some parents" believe.
    "Solutions" should not have 'the' in front of it unless you intend to give all the solutions.

    Hmm... I sense contradicting advice between yours and GoesStation's on another thread.

    See my notes on your other post on the same lines.
    I'm not a teacher. I speak American English. I've tutored writing at the University of Southern Maine and have done a good deal of copy editing and writing, occasionally for publication.

    Sorry, I meant to write "should not have ..." I've amended it.
