    Word "abundant"

I am wondering if I could use the word "abundant" in the following sentences.

    1. The river is abundant in fish of all kinds.
    2. Athletes eat food abundant in proteins and vitamins to keep their bodies fit.
    3. The country is abundant in rivers, lakes and large forests.

No, "abundant" is not natural in those examples.
“Every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud, adopts as a last resource pride in the nation to which he belongs; he is ready and happy to defend all its faults and follies tooth and nail, thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.”

What word could be used instead of "abundant" to make my sentences natural?

There is nothing wrong with 'abundant in'.

At most, it might feel a little dated.
