Once they went back from forest

I watched a movie in which there was a group of friends camping in forest. One of their friends leg gets cut off so they preserve or put it in ice, they thought "they would go to a doctor and ask him to operate on his leg once they went out of the forest or had left the forest".

    Please check.

Re: Once they went back from forest

... once they had got out of the forest.

"Left" is OK but "went out of" doesn't work.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
