"switch over" to a bike - is it properly exressed?

    Hello.

Suppose I have travelled to the nearest town by bus almost all my life. Suddenly, however, the realisation came that it was time for me to change a means of transport. I decided to start riding a bike. Can I say "it is high time I switched over to a bike"?

    Thank you.

Yes, that's a good way to put it. Even more naturally, we would say "It's."
I'm not a teacher. I speak American English. I've tutored writing at the University of Southern Maine and have done a good deal of copy editing and writing, occasionally for publication.
