Introduced his GF with different identity

When I first saw my friend with his girl friend "he introduced her to me with a different identity (he told me her name was Anjali, whereas her name was Sonia. Anjali was some other girl in his class)".

    Please check.

Re: Introduced his GF with different identity

Are you suggesting that he lied about her name?
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

Only use quotation marks for direct quotes. Parentheses are not needed because it's not an aside.
I'm not a teacher. I speak American English. I've tutored writing at the University of Southern Maine and have done a good deal of copy editing and writing, occasionally for publication.

Yes. Could you also please tell me whether we can use word "identity" here?

Re: Introduced his GF with different identity

That sounds a bit too formal for this context. People like the police and other officials are interested in your identity. When a friend introduces his girlfriend, he just tells you her name (or, in this case, he doesn't!)

Out of curiosity, what was his girlfriend's reaction when he told you the wrong name? You said that you saw them together and your friend introduced her to you, saying that her name was Anjali, when it's actually Sonia. Surely Sonia said "That's not my name! Why did you get my name wrong?"

No, actually nothing happened like this, it was just a question. This happens in a movie so I just wanted to know what was the correct way to say it?

Re: Introduced his GF with different identity

Please get into the habit of giving us the context in post #1. If you're quoting from a book or a movie, you must give the source (the name of the film/book and the writer).
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

Sorry, you wouldn't have been able to understand, if I had told you the name of the movie. Its not an english movie its a hindi movie(bollywood movie).

We really do get annoyed when after all this time you are still failing to capitalise proper nouns like 'English' and 'Hindi'.

We would not have understood the Hindi words, but it would have helped us to know you were talking about the dialogue from a film.

Your original post sounds like you were recounting a real-life situation.
