    hop-on and hop-off service

The Top Bus company runs all its tours with a live commentary in English. Tours leave from 8:30am every 20 minutes. There are departures from Central Station, Castle Hill and Long Walk. This is a hop-on and hop-off service and tickets are valid for 24 hours.

What kind of service is this?

    Re: hop-on and hop-off service

It means that you can buy a ticket which is valid for a whole day, during which time you can get on and off any Top Bus bus as many times as you like. You could get on it at Stop 1, get off at Stop 3, have a look around, go back to the Stop 3 bus stop, wait for the next bus, get on, get off again at Stop 4 (or 5, 6, 7 etc) and so on, until you have travelled all round the city, getting off and having a look around wherever you like.

Many European cities have such a bus service. It's aimed at tourists and is frequently an open-top bus. I've used them in various places.
