    learnt a lot from them

    1) We learnt a lot from them, which we should never forget.

    Can't this sentence mean two things:
    1a) We learnt a lot from them and we should not forget what we learnt from them.
    1b) We learnt a lot from them and we should not forget that we learnt a lot from them. We should not forget our debt to them.

    ===================

    2) We learnt a lot from them which we should never forget.

    Isn't this one ambiguous as well. Can't it have both these meanings:
    2a) We learnt a lot from them and we should never forget any of the things we learnt from them.
    2b) We learnt a lot form them that we should never forget and we have also learnt some things from them that we can forget. (This interpretation is not really likely but not impossible, in my opinion.)

    Gratefully,
    Navi.

    Re: learnt a lot from them

    In my opinion 1) means 1a) and 2) is incorrect.
    “Every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud, adopts as a last resource pride in the nation to which he belongs; he is ready and happy to defend all its faults and follies tooth and nail, thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.”
