water sparks/the spray was flying in our faces

Which word should be used here to describe tiny drops of water flying in one's face?
We were going in a speedboat [corrected] through the waves and water sparks/the spray was flying in our faces.

If I were a native speaker of English, I would never shut up. :-)

    the spray

'Speedboat' is one word and the sentence has no final punctuation mark.
