    for a contribution

    Are these sentences correct:
    1) I talked to him for making a
    contribution.
    2) I talked to him for a contribution.

    If the intended meaning is:
I talked to him so that he would make a contribution.
I asked him to make a contribution.

I don't think either work works with that meaning. I think '2' means I talked to him because someone gave me money to. And '1' means I talked to him because I made a contribution.

    Gratefully,
    Navi.

    Re: for a contribution

Neither of your sentences is natural in any context I can think of. About works for your intended meaning.

    Re: for a contribution

How about: I talked him into making a contribution.
    I am not a teacher.

    Re: for a contribution

The English is fine, but it does not mean exactly the same as navi's sentence.
