to have all that someone/something could handle

    Hi,

Eventually my health deteriorated and on the morning of the October 15, 2000 my body had all that it could handle.

Anyone please could tell me what the bold part means?

    Thanks

Re: to have all that someone/something could handle

It (his body) had reached its limit to what it could tolerate.

I think that expression is more commonly used about people. Example:

I've got all I can handle. (I've reached my limit. I can't take on any more.)

There is no wider context, so who knows what this is about?

However, I would have said, '…my body had had all that it could handle'.

Please provide the source of your sentence, Sepmre.
“Every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud, adopts as a last resource pride in the nation to which he belongs; he is ready and happy to defend all its faults and follies tooth and nail, thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.”
