"Except me" is ok, "except for the limitation" is ok too. And I saw someone use "except the limitation"
I don't know why I can't insert the screenshot from my computer... Check out this URL and you will find the "except the limitation"...

So my question is, what is the difference between except and except for when they are followed by a noun?
Your link doesn't lead to anything that relates to your question. Please post full sentences using "except" and "except for" and we can try to help you.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
