In what context have you seen it?

    It's not a sentence.

It's a title I've encountered in the book "So You want to be An Insurance Agent", by the way there is one other sentence I've seen it:

Give back to the community by sponsoring local charity events.

'Voluntarily put back into the community some of the money you have received from it.'

    NOT A TEACHER

    Hello, Sepmre:

I thought that this famous quotation might interest you.

These words were spoken by John F. Kennedy on the first day that he became the president of the United States of America.

"Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."

Re: Give back to the community

I don't think it necessarily means money. For example the community has given me no money. To me, it just means something, anything you are capable of. It could be volunteering, or a mention on your web page of a community event, or joining Community Watch.
The idea is that, by living in a community, you are receiving some benefit, even if it's just social, and that everyone should give something back. Of course there are people who are naturally givers, and others who are takers, and that will never change.

There's also a term,"Pay it forward", in which a person gives first, hoping for help when they need it, based on some karmic principle.
