Normally when you travel by bus you pay bus fare. But when you are availing the bus service facility at your school or college for pick and drop purposes. And you pay them an amount against this service on monthly basis, will it still be called "bus fare" or should we call it a "bus fee", a bus service fee or anything else?

In the U.S., the school bus is a specific bus (almost always bright yellow) that is provided by the school district and is ridden only by students.

In many college towns, part of your fee pays for "free" bus rides that you can take by showing your student ID. (I say "free" because you pay for it in other ways.)

Almost all cities with public transportation have various deals for different groups of people, often including students.

At the urban college where I went, the school ran a shuttle bus from more remote housing areas to the actual campus. This was free for students.

For the actual city buses, you could obtain a monthly pass at a discounted rate.

How you pay for it in other ways? Can you give a couple of examples of those other ways please?

In Pakistan Schools and Colleges own their own buses that they use on different routes and they are used both by students, teachers and other staff members like those at the accounts and other departments.

As far as students are concerned, those of them who want to benefit from this service they have to pay a small amount of transportation fees on monthly basis. And as far as the teachers are concerned, those of them who use this service a small amount of money from their monthly salaries are deducted.

So, going back to the original question should I call it bus fees in this situation or should it stay as a bus fare?

She meant that the service is included in the money you pay to the school as tuition or as part of a "student activity fee."

Nothing is free.

I would say it's a fee. A monthly bus fee. Or "transportation fee."

The same is the case here in Pakistan. When students are paying their tuition fee they pay for the transport along with their fee.

[STRIKE]But when[/STRIKE]
Say, you are [STRIKE]availing[/STRIKE] using the bus service[STRIKE] facility[/STRIKE] at your school or college for pick-up and drop-off purposes (for commuting purposes).
And you pay them an amount [STRIKE]against[/STRIKE]
for this service on a monthly basis. Will it still be called a "bus fare" or should we call it a "bus fee", a bus service fee or [STRIKE]anything [/STRIKE]something else?

The original second sentence starting with "but when" is not complete.
