    It heavily depends on the context. My first impulse is to say "Is there anybody out there?"

    I agree with you, Piscean. I remembered a song performed by Pink Floyd and a film produced by Alan Parker ("The Wall"). I visualised the whole scene.

    Some people consider the -one series to be more formal, or elegant, than the -body series, especially in writing.
