    Word "paintwork"

I have tried to use "paintwork" in my sentences. Would you please correct my grammar and punctuation.

    1. A column of military vehicles rumbled through the street, their paintwork covered in mud and dust.
    2. The wall looked immaculate, but when the painter scratched the paintwork mould came up.
    3. From a distance John watched the shabby block of flats, their paintwork was discoloured and peeled.

    Re: Word "paintwork"

They're OK. #3 is a comma splice (delete 'was').
