What do you mean by "2 metres of the leather"? Do you mean 2 metres from one of the edges of the leather, assuming the leather is rectangular in shape.
It leaves too much to the imagination.
I think it makes more sense to draw out the piece of leather and mark the exact sport where the tear is. This type of information is best shown on a sketch rather than described in words.

Yes, it is 2 metres from one of the edges of the leather. Total length of the leather hide is 3 metres, and the damage was found at 2 metres of the fabric. Shall I write as follows.

We noticed that there is a tear in 5 cm near the centre of 6.5 square metre of brown leather hide supplied.

Just tell them it is damaged and you can't use it. Maybe you take a pencil and circle the damaged area. Send them a picture (photo).
