    I haven't seen you since the year 2014.
    Is it a correct sentence or should we omit (the year)?

    I would omit "the year". There is no need to use it. Anyone familiar with and using the Julian calendar will immediately know you are talking about a year.
    Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    No, it wouldn't be a mistake but it might well mark you out as a non-native.

    It wouldn't be a grammatical mistake. It might be a social mistake if you are trying to impress your old friend with your progress in natural English speaking.

    I'd only say 'the year' if I thought there was any likelihood of my hearers/readers thinking I meant 8.14pm.
