    As John went from one

I am not sure if my sentence sounds natural. Would you please correct my mistakes?

As John went from one serious illness to another, and from one disappointment to another, he asked himself whether life had any meaning beyond suffering.

Re: As John went from one

It's kind of depressing, but there are no mistakes to correct.
