"The fact that the bone T.B can happen because of lifting heavy weights in the gym is as true as the fact that mosquito bite can cause HIV in a person (both of these things are rumour but this is a saracastic sentence)."

"Can lifting heavy weights lead to T.B in a person?"

Please check.

How about:

Can lifting weights cause bone tuberculosis?

However, I don't think many people at my end would understand the question or the sarcasm. Musculoskeletal tuberculosis is not well known here- we tend to think of it as a disease of the lungs. The first time I heard of it was when I read about the poet Alexander Pope, who had a form of it.

That way my initial reaction when reading the thread title and even the post. How in the world could anybody associate muscle exertion with tuberculosis?

I had never heard of bone TB until I read Tdol's comment. I had no idea there was any other form of tuberculosis other than consumption.

That aside, the sarcasm of referring to them as facts when they're falsehoods is largely lost in writing, and that first sentence is wordy. Also, note that you don't need an article in front of 'bone TB'.

How about something like "You're as likely to get bone tuberculosis lifting weights as you are getting HIV from mosquito bites."

I am suffering from this disease. I am being treated for it at the moment. I also didn't know about it until I was informed by the doctor that I had this. It's been nine months since my treatment started. I have started feeling well now (although I don't go out of my house because I have to wear a brace while standing and sitting and I cannot bend over) but treatment will continue for two years or may be more than two year but I don't have to miss medicines until doctors ask me to stop the medicines.

I am very sorry to hear this and wish you all the best for your recovery. The second time I heard of it was last year when I had dinner in Phnom Penh with a doctor who had once worked in a hospital in South Asia that specialised in it and described it. I have a different condition, but one that is slowly turning me into a hunchback, so, as one person who struggles to bend over to another, all the best with this.

I am not sure of the facts behind this, but I would say:

"You are as likely to get rich by gambling as by stealing."
