    which/what

    Dear guests,

Please, look at my sentences below containing "which" vs. "what":

    1) What is the largest city in Russia?

Which is the largest city in Russia?

    2) Which places have you already visited?

What places have you already visited?

What's the difference between "which" and "what" here?

    Thanks

    Re: which/what

When you use "what" you are asking the person to choose from all the possibilities. When you use "which" you are asking the person to choose from specific possibilities given to choose from.
