    Journalists asked the menager

    I am wondering if my sentence sounds natural. Would you please correct my mistakes?

    Journalists asked the manager what or whom he blamed for the failure at the European Championship, and he answered that he had taken the full responsibility for it.

    I'd break it into two sentences as shown above.

    We take responsibility for something, with no article.
    I am not a teacher.
