    over-arch?

"A tendency to lean on one leg, slouch while standing or seated, or over-arch your back can put undue stress on the back."

Is "over-arch your back" the same idea as humpback?

    Re: over-arch?

Here's a photo of a woman arching her back. Sorry. It was the best one available.

    You're welcome, Eway.

Here's a photo of a man leaning in one leg and slouching. Click here

If a dictionary entry for a given word doesn't help, try searching for a photo that depicts the act or object. Check out the site above. It helps me too.

    Re: over-arch?

    Thanks for the information.
Mmm... I actually did a little search with Google Images and I thought the act of arching one's back looked like an exercise good for health. The passage I read, however, seems to imply that it's not quite a healthy thing to do. So I got confused...

    Re: over-arch?

Oh, I agree with you there. In Yoga, for example, arching your back like this is recommended. An arch can be either concave (curves inward) or convex (curves outward).
