You might remember by my pictures that I am not swarthy or dark-skinned

I've made up a description of a man who is writing to his pen pal and going to meet him in person. The friend is coming to the airport and the man is describing himself so that his pen pal could recognize him. I want the letter to sound natural (I am making it as an exercise for my students). Could you tell me if this sentence is natural and, if not, what phrases I should use instead of the inappropriate ones?

You might remember by my pictures that I am not swarthy or dark-skinned, but at the moment I have tanned complexion after spending a week in Thailand.

If I were a native speaker of English, I would never shut up. :-)

It seems a bit odd to me to talk about what you don't look like. Perhaps the person could say that he is normally fair skinned but that he has a tan which makes his complexion darker than normal.

I'd avoid the word swarthy. It used to be used to describe people as genetically untrustworthy because of their skin color.

In this age of smartphones, a picture can be sent by clicking a few buttons. I don't think it will be easy to recognize someone in an airport from just a description of his complexion.

    NOT A TEACHER

"By the way, Tony, unlike my photos that you have of me, I now have a deep tan, which I got while I was on holiday in Thailand. So just look carefully and you'll recognize me."

"You might remember from my pictures ...".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
