    who they want serving

    "First lady Michelle Obama on Monday asked Americans to decide who they want serving as a role model for their children ― Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton."

    with the above sentence, just wondering why not 'they want to serve'

    Note that I have changed your thread title so that it is specific to this thread. Titles should include some/all of the words/phrases you are querying.

    Both "who they want serving" and "who they want to serve" are correct. If you want to know why Michelle Obama chose "want serving", you would have to ask her (or her speech writer).
    Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
