    Slam-Dunk

Could someone please tell me what the word 'slam-dunk' stands for in the following sentence: "It's a slam-dunk lawsuit." What is the meaning of the word in that context?

    Thanks in advance,
    Doris

    Re: Slam-Dunk

In this context it means it's a sure thing; the plaintiff is expected to win the lawsuit easily. It comes from the practice of towering seven foot tall American basketball players jumping up over the basket and easily depositing the ball through the hoop.
