    Countries didn't prosper as much.

    I'd prefer "as much as they could have" and "because of a lack of communication".
    Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Just for once, we're going to advise you to remove an article! Take out "the" before "other countries" unless you are going to specify (or have already specified) which countries they are.
