    in addition to

    1) I would like to recommend another magazine to you, in addition to Nature and Scientific American.
    2) I would like to recommend another magazine to you, besides Nature and Scientific American.
    3) I would like to recommend another magazine to you, apart from Nature and Scientific American.

Do these necessary imply that I have recommended Nature and Scientific American?

Couldn't they be used if I know that you already know about those two magazines and am only recommending one magazine?

    Re: in addition to

    1. The first one does imply that you are recommending Nature, Scientific American, and another magazine. (In addition to is another way to say, "and." The sentence is basically saying, "I would like to recommend Nature, Scientific American, and another magazine to you.)
    2. The second one implies that you are recommending other magazines, but are not recommending Nature and Scientific American.
    3. The third one implies that you are recommending an alternative to Nature and Scientific American. (This sentence is basically saying, "I would like to recommend a magazine other than Nature and Scientific American.")

These could all be used if you know that I am aware of these two magazines and want to recommend another option.

    Hope that helps.
