    in my year at college

He was in my year at college.
He and I were in the same year at college.

These two sentences show that he and I started college in the same year. Now if I was to name the particular year, for instance, 2006, how should I get the '2006' into the sentence, or rather, where should I put the '2006' in the sentence?
Is it 'He was in my year of 2006 at college' and 'He and I were in the same year of 2006 at college'?

P.S. I know the use of class in 'He and I were in the class of 2010'. Can we say 'He and I were in the 2010 class'?

We both started college in 2006.

We were both in the class of 2010. The year is your final year, i.e., the year you graduated.
