pre-study the lesson VS study the lesson

    Hello

I wonder which one of the below lessons is OK?

    - Please pre-study the lesson 8 before you attend the class so as to have a background of the next lesson I'm going to teach.

    - Please study the lesson 8 before you attend the class so as to have a background of the next lesson I'm going to teach.

    Thank you

    Perhaps:

    Preview/read/ or study

chapter eight (8) or lesson eight (8).

Frankly, I don't know what it means to pre-study something.

Re: pre-study the lesson VS study the lesson

What I mean from pre study is that students study lessons before attending the class to be familiar with the lesson which is supposed to be taught.

Re: pre-study the lesson VS study the lesson

There is no need to invent another verb. There are already the three choices in post #2.
