    opening speech

    Hello all,
    I am a newbie here. i have to prepare a presentation in English.
    would appreciate if you could comment on my opening speech as below;
    and i would also really appreciated it if you could recommend any link/sample of speech opening for my reference.

    a very good afternoon to all Board's members.
    first of all i will go through the operation update, then i will update on issues related to XYZ, then i will pass to my colleague for financial update....

    on a separate note,
    is it correct to say "sorry to hear that" to our friend when we heard any bad news happened to him/her.

    Many thanks in advance

    A very good afternoon to all Board's the board members.

    Welcome to the forum.

    Please see my suggested corrections above. You have repeated "update" three times in your opening two sentences. I have left them in because it's possible it's the only possible word for your context but, if you can find one, at least one alternative would sound better.

    Remember to capitalise "I" every time you write it, and to capitalise the first word of every new sentence.

    Please start a separate thread for your question about "Sorry to hear that".
    Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    You're welcome but please note that there is no reason to write a new post to say "Thank you" to anyone. Simply click on the "Thank" button and/or the "Like" button (as you have already done). It saves time for everyone.
    Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
