    #1. The following sentence , especially "where" is correct?
    #2. I can't understand why #2 sentence is incorrect?

    It should be,
    #1 One place, where I did not look for the map was the cupboard.
    #2 Mary, who is from New York likes this place.
    Explanation: a comma before 'where' and 'who'.

    2 It should have a second comma:

    This is a Non-defining Relative Clause which gives extra information about a noun or noun phrase and has commas at both ends.

    "Mary who is from New York likes this place." This could be possible, but rarely would you need to define Mary. If there were several people called Mary, then it could be OK, but without more context, the logical assumption is that you are just giving us some extra information about Mary and not telling us which Mary.
