    there is nothing you can do

    1) If you can't speak your mind freely in London, there is nothing you can do.
    2) If you can't speak your mind freely in London, is there anything you can do?

    Do '1' and '2' mean there is nothing you can do in London/ is there anything you can do in London, or do they mean there is nothing you can do anywhere/ is there anything you can do anywhere?

    =========================

    3) If you can't lose your mind in your own house, there is nothing you can lose.

    4) If you can't lose your mind in your own house, is there anything you can lose?

    Do these mean there is nothing you can lose in your own house/ is there anything you can lose in your own hous, or do they mean there is nothing you can lose anywhere/ is there anything you can lose anywhere?

    '3' and '4' are obviously rhetorical and are meant to be funny.

    Gratefully,
    Navi.

    Re: there is nothing you can do

    I don't find any of the four sentences natural.
    Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: there is nothing you can do

    1 could mean that you can't do anything to change the situation, and 2 is a despairing comment on the state of play in London without this freedom.
