as highlighted by the port's recent decision to set up a dedicated facility

    Hello everybody!

The whole sentence reads as follows: Superyacht work is another growing area of specialist activity, as highlighted by the port's recent decision to set up a dedicated facility in the Mediterranean.

Could "as highlighted by the port's recent decision to set up a dedicated facility" be understood to mean "which is/was made known by the port's recent decision to set up a dedicated facility" or "judging by/from"?

    Thank you.

That's equivalent to "as has been shown/confirmed by." or

Teechar has answered your question, but I want to add that I think your sentence is a bit redundant. Your use of "the port" indicates that you have already mentioned a specific port, and the location of that port would be well known- certainly among those interested in the story. One port would not build facilities someplace else.

I'm also concerned about "in" the Mediterranean. In a body of water makes me think of floating in the water, not connected to land next to the water. I've always heard of ports and their facilities as being on the Mediterranean. Something could be located in the Mediterranean region, but that's quite a different thing.

To highlight is to draw attention to, so in your context, I would interpret "highlighted" as "made obvious" or "made clear". Perhaps "made clearly evident" if you really want to give this aspect emphasis.
