Sometimes 'learn' is used in 'learn to swim' , or 'learn fractions in math' , other times in 'a learned person/book' or in the word 'learning', which I looked up in my LONGMAN DICTIONARY OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND CULTURE, which says:
learning: deep and wide knowledge gained through reading and study
I got confused by this definition. And thus came my question above. I don't know whether 'institutions of learning' mean 'institutions where a child or young person studies different subjects such as language and science, or does it include institutions that train people to do new work, or does it include institutions that do research work?
