    Hello everyone,

François de La Rochefoucauld once said: "The only security is courage"

    What does "security" mean?

    Thank you.

    Re: security

In this case, it's something that keeps you safe.

The only thing that can keep you safe is courage.

    Re: security

KLPNO, keep in mind that there is a lot of depth to the meaning of "safe" or "security".

Consider in the US, where a great many Americans are complaining about how we have exchanged our freedoms for security. This security is talking about protection, safety, but more... our way of life, our future, our confidence that we will have continuity and order in our lives.

Many have (and do) criticized the government's encroachment into our freedoms under the constitution.

The counter to this is that freedom is not free; it must be fought for and defended. We must have the courage to hold on to our values and our way of life, and not sell our freedoms cheaply in the name of (false) security.

The only [real] security is courage.
