    calculation

There is a converstaion said by a salesgirl.

Salesgirl: Six Rothmans ... and three Silk Cut. That's ... six fifty fives—three pound thirty ... three Silk Cut — one forty-four ... That's four pound seventy-four altogether. Thank you. 26p. change ... and your stamps.

I don't know how much a silk cut cost. Please calculate it for me. Thank you very much.

    Re: calculation

Three packets of Silk Cut cost £1.44. Can you now work out how much one pack costs?

ps. Your sentence was written a few years ago!

    Re: calculation

It is a very old conversation unless they're selling single cigarettes.

Perhaps the coloring will help you match up her thought process. She states the quantity, followed by the individual price, followed by the total for that quantity at that price, although she skips over the total price for the Silk Cuts and just goes straight to the grand total.

    Re: calculation

But the answer suggests, "A Silk Cut costs thirty-eight pence". Could you help figure it out? Thank you.

    Re: calculation

The answer is wrong. The correct answer is forty-eight pence.
