as has pay for the richest 1%

    Dear friends,

"Over the past 30 years the incomes of workers in the middle of the global income distribution—factory workers in China, say—have soared, as has pay for the richest 1%."

I don't understand the phrase in bold. It seems to me like a grammar mistake there because I can't figure out the meaning. Is the phrase in bold grammatically correct? If so, what does it mean?

    Thanks

It's correct. It means that pay for the richest 1% has also soared. "Incomes for workers ..., like pay for richest 1%, have soared."

I see, thanks. What is "pay" here? I know now it's a noun, but what does it mean?

    It's another word for income.
