I think this is a related question. It is incorrect to say I think yes and I think no. I do not know if the same rule applies to if + yes.

You can say "If yes, ..." if you follow it with "If no, ...". I prefer "If so, ..." followed by "If not, ...". The first pair are sort of shortened versions of "If your answer is yes ..." and "If your answer is no ...".
