Dear friends,

I'm reading and translating a text about smart products and smart makers from the Economist. Here is the link:

http://www.economist.com/news/busine...-new-one-which

"But if they embrace the smart revolution, they may create products—and indeed services—that really are worthy of being fetishised."

I'm a bit puzzled by the meaning of "indeed" in the sentence above. Is it an adjective or "indeed" here means that the products and the services are the same?

Thanks

It's an adjective. The author could have written products - and even services.... The author believes that finding services listed will tend to surprise readers. The intensifying adjective tells the reader "I really mean the words that follow."

And the services are less obvious than the products.

How so? Surely not. Isn't it adverbial?

Yes, as you say. I think I was misled by the modifier's proximity to the noun. It modifies create.
